Speakers:

Amanda Elliott, DO, University of Iowa

Dr. Amanda Elliott is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, who is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at University of Iowa.  She has been providing care to youth in Iowa since 2014 in a variety of settings including the inpatient hospital unit, outpatient clinics, and telemedicine school-based clinics.  She currently shares time between University of Iowa Health Care and the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health Clinic. In addition to patient care, she is passionate about education and advocacy about the importance of supporting youth mental health.

Jamie Elizalde, PhD, NCSP, University of Iowa

Dr. Jamie Elizalde is a licensed child and adolescent psychologist and Health Service Provider with a specialization in school psychology. She serves as Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Iowa Department of Psychiatry and Clinical Service Provider with the University of Iowa Scanlan Center for School Mental Health. Dr. Elizalde attended University of Wisconsin where she obtained a BA in Psychology and MS in School Psychology Specialization. She completed her Doctorate in Psychology with Specialization in School Psychology from Illinois State University. Her specialty areas include anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and Tourette Syndrome. Dr. Elizalde is certified through the Tourette Association of America and has completed advanced training for treatment of OCD through the International OCD Foundation.

Michaeline Jensen, PhD, University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Michaeline Jensen is a licensed psychologist and Associate Professor of Psychology at UNC Greensboro. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Arizona State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Carolina Consortium on Human Development. Her research leverages novel methods and modern communication technologies to elucidate the role of technology in youth relationship maintenance, mental health, and substance use and to uncover social-communication processes that researchers often struggle to accurately assess via self-report.

Chantal Rozmus, DO, Abbe Community Mental Health Center

Dr. Chantal Rozmus was born and raised in Iowa. She attended undergraduate and medical school in Iowa and completed her training for adult and child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Iowa. She currently works at the Abbe Center in Iowa City and is the prescriber for the FERST team, AOT team, and specializes in harm-reduction based psychiatric care. When she isn't at work, she enjoys bird watching, live music, and spending time with her family and friends.

Jennifer Kuhle, PhD, BCBA-D, University of Iowa

Dr. Kuhle is a clinical psychologist and a member of the Intellectual Disability Mental Illness (IDMI) team. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of challenging behavior using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Clinical interests include development of behavior plans, Parent Management Training (PMT), ADHD, anxiety, and effective strategies for toileting. Dr. Kuhle has previous experience as a school psychologist and engages in home-school-clinic collaboration to support the behavioral needs of K-12 students.

Hanna Stevens, MD, PhD, University of Iowa

Dr. Hanna Stevens is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the University of Iowa, leading the division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry which features multiple much-needed psychiatric treatment programs for children and families. She received her BS in neuroscience at Cornell University and MD/PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed postdoctoral research, clinical child psychiatry training, and several years on the faculty at the Yale Child Study Center. She also runs a basic neuroscience lab which uses models to study the effects of early genetic and environmental changes on brain development and the risk for child psychiatric disorders.

Liz Gleason, MSW, LISW, University of Iowa

Liz Gleason is a social worker at the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health Clinic, providing individual and group counseling. She has a specialized interest in the treatment of children and adults needing support with suicidality, self-harm, emotional intensity, grief and loss, crisis intervention, and psychiatric emergency care. Her approach to therapy blends Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Before working at the Scanlan Center, Liz worked at University of Iowa Health Care as a social worker in the Crisis Stabilization Unit and at Cross Park Place as a case manager. A music enthusiast, Liz enjoys all genres—ask about any type of music, and she'll share a favorite song!
