Meet Amy K.

Amy started working at Child Health Specialty Clinics in Iowa City as a Family Navigator in March of 2018 and is a Certified Family Peer Specialist.  Amy provides family support for Iowa’s Regional Autism Assistance Program and University of Iowa Autism Center.  She is also a trainer for the Iowa Family Leadership Training Institute.  Amy has a BSW degree and started her professional career working as a social worker, Family Team Meeting Facilitator and gained experience working in the school setting.  After the diagnosis of her youngest son with autism and anxiety, Amy found herself spending a lot of time advocating for him and other children within her school district.  Amy is passionate about helping families feel supported in finding their own voice and making information and resources accessible to all families.  During her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and their three sons, attending sporting events, hiking, and boating.
