Transition and Education

The Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) requires schools to provide transition planning for all students 14 and older who receive special education services. This transition planning should be a results-oriented process andĀ focus on:

  • Improving the academic and functional achievement of the student
  • Facilitating the student's movement from school to post-school activities, including post-secondary education, vocational education, integrated employment and/or independent living
